MEM30619 Certificate III in Jewellery Manufacture (JTS)

This course is for students undertaking apprenticeships training via Jewellery Training Solutions (JTS) online training platform at a silver level or above.

Qualification Description

This qualification defines the skills and knowledge required of a jewellery manufacture tradesperson within the jewellery industry. The qualification has been specifically developed for apprentices in the trade. This qualification must be undertaken through a Training Contract or through formal trade recognition assessment processes.

The skills associated with this qualification are intended to apply to a wide range of jewellery manufacture work, including undertaking designing and making jewellery and small objects using a wide range of materials, including metals, stones, woods, plastics and fibres.

Assessments of some units of competency must, where indicated, include evidence of the candidate's performance in a functioning workplace where there is a sufficient range of appropriate tasks and materials to cover the scope of application of those units. All outcomes must reflect the standard of performance inherent in the job.

Core units totally 36 points, plus

Elective units of competency:

• Elective units of competency to a minimum of forty (40) points from Group A
• Elective units of competency to a maximum value of twenty-three (23) points from Group B to bring the total value to ninety-six (96) points

Appropriate Group B elective units to the value of eight (8) points may be chosen from this Training Package, other endorsed Training Packages and accredited courses where those units are available for including at Certificate III level. Only select units that would be suitable for occupational outcomes in a jewellery manufacture trade environment.

Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) must seek a determination from the industry parties in respect of the allocation of points values for units of competency drawn from other Training Packages or accredited courses. Determination of points requests are to be submitted to the industry parties through Innovation and Business Skills Australia (IBSA) Manufacturing. Refer to the MEM Companion Volume Implementation Guide for information on determination of unit points vales.

MEM60211 Advanced Diploma of Jewellery and Object Design (RPL)

Qualification Description

This qualification describes the skills and knowledge required to develop jewellery and object design solutions that require a wide range of specialised technical and creative skills. Design solutions reflect consideration of aesthetics, function, production techniques, material characteristics and marketability of jewellery and objects. This qualification is typically used to develop skills and knowledge in jewellery and object design enterprises. Skills gained from this qualification may be applied to specialist jewellery and object design briefs, including heritage jewellery, theatre and film commissions, exhibitions and churchware, as well as one-off individual client briefs.

Licensing/Regulatory Information

There is no direct link between this qualification and licensing, legislative and/or regulatory requirements. However, all work must comply with occupational health and safety (OHS) and environmental regulations and legislation that apply to the workplace.

9 core units, plus

27 elective units, of which:

• at least five (5) units of competency from Group A
• at least three (3) units of competency from Group B
• at least three (3) units of competency from Group C

The thirteen (13) remaining elective units can be selected as follows, to bring the total number of elective units to twenty-seven (27):

• Group A, B, C or D electives not previously selected
• a maximum of five (5) units from Group E
• up to six (6) appropriate elective units may be chosen from other endorsed Training Packages and accredited courses where those units are available in an Advanced Diploma, Diploma (maximum 4 units) or Certificate IV (maximum 4 units) qualification.

Appropriate units are those that would be suitable for occupational outcomes in a jewellery and object design environment.

RII30115 Certificate III in Surface Extraction Operations (QLD)

Qualification Description

This qualification reflects the role of employees such as production operators in an open cut mine or quarry, who perform tasks involving a broad range of skilled applications in a varied work context, using some discretion and judgement in selection equipment, services or contingency measures.

Licensing/Regulatory Information

There are both licensed and non-licensed units of competency relating to high-risk work in the Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package. To be appointed under any statutory requirements in related roles, units of competency should be selected to meet the state/territory licensing requirements.

3 core units, plus

10 elective units, of which:

• one (1) must be chosen from Group A
• one (1) must be chosen from Group B
• at least three (3) must be chosen from Group C

• no more than two (2) may be chosen from within this training package, or from another endorsed training package, or from an accredited course.

All elective units selected from outside this qualification must reflect current occupational and learning outcome of this AQF qualification level.

BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management (QLD)

Qualification Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply knowledge, practical skills and experience in leadership and management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. Individuals at this level display initiative and judgement in planning, organising, implementing and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others. They use communication skills to support individuals and teams to meet organisation or enterprise requirements. They may plan, design, apply and evaluate solutions to unpredictable problems and identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources.

Qualification Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of Business Services job roles. It is likely that these individuals are establishing their own work performance. Individuals in these roles carry out a range of routine procedural, clerical, administrative or operational tasks that require technology and business skills. They apply a broad range of competencies using some discretion, judgement and relevant theoretical knowledge. They may provide technical advice and support to a team.

RIIWHS302E Implement traffic management plans (QLD)

Qualification Description

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to set out, monitor and close down traffic management plans and traffic guidance schemes in civil construction. It applies to those working in supervisory roles. They generally work in teams in live traffic environments and hold some responsibility for the outcome of others.

Note: The terms Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Work Health and Safety (WHS) are equivalent and generally either can be used in the workplace. In jurisdictions where the National Model WHS Legislation has not been implemented, registered training organisations are advised to contextualise the unit of competency by referring to the existing state/territory OHS legislative requirements.

Skills gained from this qualification may be applied to specialist jewellery and object design briefs, including heritage jewellery, theatre and film commissions, exhibitions and churchware, as well as one-off individual client briefs.

• a maximum of three (3) units from Group D
• up to four (4) appropriate elective units may be chosen from other endorsed Training Packages and accredited courses where those units are available in a Diploma of Certificate IV qualification

Appropriate units are those that would be suitable for occupational outcomes in a jewellery and object design environment.

Note that the elective units listed below include all of the units that are approved for selection from the MEM05 Training Package for use in this qualification. This meets the NSSC requirement that one-sixth of the total units must be able to be selected from other qualifications in the same Training Package.

Units that have been achieved through completion of other qualifications will be credited towards the Diploma when they are also included in the unit lists for this qualification.

The Standard 11 Induction has been designed for students new-to-sector, being inducted for the first time. The units of competency that form this short course are:

Participants will receive a Statement of Attainment upon successful completion.

TLILIC0003 Licence to Operate a Forklift Truck

Course Description

This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to operate a forklift truck safely in accordance with all relevant legislative requirements. Competence in this unit does not in itself result in a HRW Licence to operate this plant.

Forklift truck means a powered industrial truck equipped with lifting media made up of a mast and an elevating load carriage to which is attached a pair of fork arms or other attachments that can be raised 900mm or more above the ground but does not include a pedestrian-operated truck or a pallet truck.

A person performing this work is required to hold a forklift truck High Risk Work Licence (HRWL).

Licensing/Regulatory Information

Legislative and regulatory requirements are applicable to this unit of competency.

This unit is based on the licensing requirements of Part 4.5 of the Model Work Health and Safety (WHS) Regulations and meets Commonwealth, State and Territory HRWL requirements.

The National Assessment Instrument (NAI) is the mandated assessment for the HRWL to operate the relevant licencing class as detailed in this unit.
